About us
R F Potts is an independent electrical and electronic components spares retailer in Derby. Bob Potts opened his first shop in Normanton in the early 1930’s moving to Babington Lane around 1939.
After the second world war, we sold all sorts of ex-government equipment. In the 50’s DIY electronics became popular and ‘build your own’ valve TV and radio kits were selling well.

Lovely shop. Started going to Potts in 1952 with my dad who is no longer here, but it was an important part of his life. We lived in the little city and I think he went to Potts nearly every day, or it seemed like that. Remember going for Tele valves, he was always mending televisions and radios and other electrical stuff for neighbours. Happy memories. X
Used to go in the PlayStation 1 days to get my chips etc, went the other day with a list of small stuff, and they were as helpful then as they were all those years ago.

I’ve been going to Potts for over thirty years. The staff are always able to offer sound advice and on the rare occasions that they haven’t had the bits I need in stock they’ve been able to get it for me or offer an easy workaround.
